As a Spaniard by birth, Dutch by choice, and European by conviction, I want to represent a Europe that is open, enterprising, and future-oriented.

We can only build this strong and healthy Europe when all regions, and all inhabitants, count. Regions like Fryslân, where I call home, have enormous challenges ahead: demographic decline, accessibility, the energy transition, unequal opportunities, digitalization and, protecting vulnerable nature - just to name a few.

All challenges that need European solutions. All questions that I have been working on for more than 20 years.

From Washington to Johannesburg. From Rome to Helsinki. From Vilnius to Zagreb.

From mi casa in Madrid to ús thús in Gorredijk.

Europeans are connected everywhere, and connecting, with the language of cooperation, of giving and taking, of shared values and ambitions. The language of Europe. Our language. Our story.

That is the story that, with your trust, I want to push forward. In the pub with the regulars and around the negotiation table in Brussels.

Waarom Raquel?
